Moral majority
This referred to the rise of Right-Wing Christians in the 1970s under the Reagan presidency. The “moral majority” gained a lot of support during the AIDS crisis as causes for the epidemic were largely linked to sodomy, specifically homosexual sodomy. The power of the “moral majority” extended to the realm of entertainment as well, with singers such as Anita Bryant gaining popularity. The rise of the “moral majority” also created more sympathy for religious ideals in terms of the sexual system, an idea that had not been as prominent since the creation of social purity groups.  [Satveer]
