This was an analytic tool developed by biologist Alfred Kinsey. It is a scale from 1-6 that describes sexuality outside of the binaristic thinking of being either purely heterosexual or purely homosexual (Bronski). A score of 1 would indicate complete heterosexual desire and a score of 6 would indicate complete homosexual desire. The Kinsey scale introduced a radically new way of viewing sexuality in the 1940's and 50's.
